Koh Samui –> Bangkok
via Surat Thani
600 THB for everything except the flight. 975THB for the flight. (roughly $46 total).
After getting my visa extended, the only thing left was to actually receive my debit card. I figured getting it sent to a hostel in Bangkok would be more relieable than getting it sent to one of the islands. Soooo I had to make my way back to Bangkok (for the 3rd time). Once again, I took the easy way out and did a ferry/flight as opposed to ferry and a long bus.
I checked the Fedex website before leaving Koh Samui and saw that my debit card had arrived at Bodega Bangkok (the hostel I had it sent to). Thank goodness! Luckily I had friends to lend me a bit of money and, after about a week, I found out I was able to add a pin to my credit card in order to get some emergency cash out.
Heres a breakdown of the journey back to Bangkok:
We were picked up at Peprika Hostel (I stayed there one night, it was decent, cheap and pretty well located) by a mini bus that took us to a bus station near the Immigration Office (12:00 pick up)
Boarded a big bus from there to Nathan Pier. Only about a 5 minute drive… they had us get off the bus and board the ferry while the bus drove onto the lower deck with all our stuff.
Ferry to Surat Thani (14:00 ferry departure).
This ferry was MUCH nicer and bigger than any of the ferries betwen the islands I’d taken. I didn’t even need to take sea sick pills, which was a good thing because I had forgotten to get some!
Even though our lugggage was on a bus that came across with us, when we disembarked in Surat Thani we had to grab our luggage from that bus and switch to a different bus that would take us to the airport. (15:45 port departure)
The bus ride took almost 2 hours, which kind of sucked, but also made me wish I was spending some time in Suratthani because it looked very pretty! Densely covered with tall, lush, jungle like greenery. (17:30 airport arrival)
Night flight out to Bangkok (DMK airrport) (21:00 flight departure). My friend didn’t have a flight until he arrived at the airport and booked it. He lucked out and got a flight for even cheaper than I did by prebooking it!
Arrived in Bangkok at 23:00 (slight delay in the air), caught a cab, and made our way to Bodega.
It was a long travel day, but I was so happy to get that debit card in my hands when I arrived! And, I figured since I had an extension on my visa I mind as well stay a little while in Bangkok!
